The Cure's Robert Smith
Born April 1959, Robert Smith is an English singer, songwriter, musician most recognizable as the lead singer and guitarist of The Cure. Being born into a musical family, Robert first learnt to play the piano before moving onto the guitar at a young age. While in school Robert formed a band with his brother and some friends, before moving to another school and formed The Obelisk, the early incarnation of The Cure. Robert Smith is known for his simplistic yet atmospheric guitar playing, choosing effects and sound over technique and purposefully detuning the top E of his guitar.
