An Inspired by Gibson Custom version of the "king of flat tops" as it appeared in its popular 1957 configuration.

The Gibson SJ-200™ was introduced to the world in 1937 and quickly earned its nickname due to its physical size, high-quality tone, exceptional projection, and undeniable stage presence. While early models were made of rosewood, in 1947 the wood used for the sides and back was changed to maple. The SJ-200 has been played by everyone from morning cowboys to folk troubadours, country crooners to rock royalty, and vintage SJ-200 models are highly sought after.

Today, Epiphone, in collaboration with Gibson Custom, is proud to present the 1957 reproduction of the SJ-200, an "Inspired by Gibson Custom" recreation of the majestic 1957 Super Jumbo model, making it more accessible to today's guitarists. This Epiphone model is brimming with vintage-inspired details and features an all-solid-wood construction, including a heat-treated solid Sitka spruce top reinforced with scalloped X-bracing, figured solid maple back and sides, multi-ply binding on the top and back, a two-piece flamed maple neck with a walnut stripe, a comfortable C-shaped profile, and a bonded Indian rosewood fingerboard with mother-of-pearl graduated crown inlays and 20 standard frets. The neck is attached to the body with a glued tenon joint. The pickguard features retro-style artwork, and the rosewood Moustache™ open-back bridge has mother-of-pearl inlays. The nut, bridge saddle (compensated), and bridge pins are made of bone.

The Gibson-style book-shaped headstock features the Epiphone logo and an inlaid Gibson crown, both in mother-of-pearl. The back of the headstock on the Natural Old Style model has a decorative band (not present on the Retro Sunburst version) and a double-diamond "Inspired by Gibson Custom" logo engraved there. To meet the needs of modern artists, this guitar is equipped with an under-saddle LR Baggs™ Element Bronze VTC piezo pickup and an active preamp with soundhole-mounted volume and tone controls, so it's ready for stage and studio right out of its included Red Line-inspired hardshell case (with Inspired by Gibson Custom artwork).
